Samuel J. Richardson

Education Director

Sam has taught and coordinated arts education programs since 1998, including stops in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and North Carolina.  He started working for Flint Youth Theatre in 2006 and has taught classes for students’ ages 2-adult, he has also trained classroom teachers and after-school program leaders in how to integrate drama into their curriculum.  Sam oversees Drama School, Tuition Assistant, Community Workshops, Building Bridges workshops, Learning Through Theatre and is responsible for spearheading the educational vision for FYT. In addition, Sam is a Lecturer at the University of Michigan-Flint.  He has been a guest lecturer at Eastern Michigan University, Assistant Technical Director at Concordia University-Ann Arbor and worked for the education department at Round House Theatre, MD. Sam is originally from England, and holds a B.S. in Theatre from Lees-McRae College and an M.F.A. in Drama/Theatre for the Young from Eastern Michigan University.
